We’re officially 10 years old this month and thought it was a great opportunity to look back over the last ten years of growth, dedication, and most of all fun!
“It’s been ten years of hard work, but it’s really paid off” said Toby Dixon, former CEO and co-owner of Marlin Green. Established in 2010, Toby Dixon and Lee Nania brought their combined 20 years of experience in the sector, and set out to create a boutique, service orientated consultancy that had vast scope for growth; and that’s exactly what they did.
“We actually started the business in a café in high Wycombe. We needed access Wi-Fi whilst we were waiting for our offices to go live and we didn’t want to wait!” said Lee, former COO and co-owner. The way in which the business started, with speed and efficiency, has underpinned the core values of Marlin Green for a decade. The ‘hit the ground running’ and ‘work hard’ approach is, as it was then, the core of what makes Marlin Green so successful.
Tom Sayer, on of our longest serving employees said “it’s different than it was when I started, we’re not a small group of 10 people anymore, we’re much bigger and making a bigger impact. The values and culture are still the same though, it’s one of the many reasons I’m still here!”.
Over the years we’ve had a of great experiences and even more fun, from days out to the races, black tie Christmas parties, to whole company holidays to Dublin and further! Some personal favourites over the years have been the Winner’s Dinner, which take place once a quarter for those that have one of our prestigious Marlin Green awards! “The virtual clay pigeon shooting and fantastic meal at Mac & Wild was a personal favourite” said Ross Gorton, our CFO “it was a great experience and great to be socialising with the team, celebrating our successes”. Undoubtedly, a true highlight was winning the Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2019 when our founders got to wined and dined at Buckingham Palace. We couldn’t be prouder of how far we have come.

So, what’s to come in the next ten years? Having powered through a global pandemic this year, we’re setting our hopes high and working even more efficiently to continue to grow. “We want to be 3 times the size, in more EU countries, and really give the next generation of our team the responsibility to take the reins” said Lee, “it’s time for the next wave of talent to lead”. We already have plans to open our next office, this one based in Berlin and we’re only going to get bigger and better! Felicity Eccles, Director of Operations said “It’s been a place for me to thrive and really build my career; I started as an office administrator and nearly 8 years later, I’m the Director of Ops. I want to see more company growth but with more focus on internal progression. We have such great talent on board and it’s exciting to be able to offer them the same opportunity to grow their careers here as I had!”.
When we asked Toby where he sees the company in the next ten years, he said, “we’ve only written the first two chapters of the book, the rest is yet to come” and we couldn’t agree more!
Cheers to another great decade!
